About Molecular Sieves
Molecular sieves contain minuscule holes or pores of consistent size. These pores permit molecules of small dimension to enter the sieve, while larger molecules get separated. Molecular sieves are produced from raw materials such aluminosilicate minerals, silicon dioxide, and mesoporous silica. An example of molecular sieve is crystalline metal aluminosilicate, which has three-dimensional linkages between alumina tetrahedra and silica. Their unique structure helps to remove water by absorbing it in the porous crystalline structure. These pores have high affinity to absorb water or similar dimensional molecules. Grade 4-8A sieves are frequently used in gas phase application to absorb water from gases and gas mixtures. Grade 3A, 4A, 5A, and 13X sieves, in their powdered form, are appropriate for specialized applications.
