About Servo and Stepper Motors
Servo motors work in a closed loop system; the motion and final position of the rotor are easily controlled using position feedback. The servo motor's digital-analog converter provides an input signal for directing the command to the output shaft. Normal motors run at full speed when voltage is applied, but servo motors rotate at a certain angle based on the electrical signal. Stepper motors work in an open loop system; they offer low torque option and provide high initial torque when compared with servo motors. Their cost is low and they require less cabling, which helps in easy integration. Stepper motors work in open loop without any encoders; as they move in steps, the electrical signal specifies the number of steps to move across.
